Support from Arts Council England!
Hope you’re enjoying the sunshine. It’s been a very busy time for me, both with Jig Doll and with my other bands and projects so apologies for the lack of blogging. There’s been a lot happening with the development of the project which I will tell you about soon but, for now, I’ve just had some very exciting news which will really help to take the project to the next level. I’m still so stunned I’m a bit nervous to announce it just in case I’m dreaming!….
The Arts Council England have awarded me £15000 from their Grants for the Arts fund to develop the project! I really can’t believe it. It’s a complete honour, not only to have received the money but also to have the support of such an important body within the arts. I applied for the grant knowing that it’s an incredibly competitive time to be applying for funding, there’s so much quality art out there and funding is getting more and more scarce, so I’m deeply humbled to have been selected.
Practically, the funding will help with things like:
Hiring rehearsal Space
Recording and producing an album
Purchasing relevant microphones and other technology
Stage and dance board design
Continuing work with mentors
Promoting the project
Creating a professional video
Giving something back by delivering workshops in local schools
Aside from all this, it’s also given me a huge confidence boost. It really feels like all systems are go for this project now!
I have to say a huge thank you to Joan Crump who has helped me with the application and will be working on the PR for Jig Doll. Her belief and enthusiasm for the project have been really invaluable and I’m so glad to be working with her.
There’s loads more news to tell you and I’ll also be announcing the tour dates very soon so please keep visiting the website.
Onwards and upwards!
